Arsenal took on Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday and it’s safe to say that the clash did not disappoint. From own goals to defensive errors and screamers, the game had it all. As Arsenal finally got the better of Liverpool this season, a win for Arsenal meant that they came within 2 points of Liverpool. As the post-match celebrations got underway, fans spotted a surprising similarity in Mikel Arteta‘s choice of celebration.

Arsenal came prepared against a Liverpool side who were comfortably sitting on a five-point lead. Goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Leandro Trossard proved to be too much for the visitors. Liverpool’s only goal in the game came from a Gabriel Magalhães handball, summing up either side’s performance on the night.

Several opposition fans took ‘offense’ at his celebration, with some calling it disrespectful and immature. That being said, a big win certainly calls for a big celebration, doesn’t it?

“We are there, that’s for sure”: Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are back in the title race

Liverpool were on the receiving end against Arsenal on Sunday, a fixture that seldom features the Reds dropping points, let alone losing. Arsenal did not hide their excitement in any form as the manager, staff and players were in celebration after the full-time whistle. Arteta breathed of confidence in his post-match interaction with the press.

The manager, when asked about a potential title race on the cards replied,

We are there, that's for sure. We want to continue to be there. We'll take it game by game and the availability of the squad is crucial, we learnt that from last season.

The Gunners missed out on the league title last season by just 5 points to Manchester City.

Adding to his claim, Arteta said that the club has been constantly putting out good results, enabling them to be so high up in the table. He mounted even more praise on his squad, claiming that they managed to beat the most ‘in-form’ team in Europe by three goals to one.

As the league nears its ‘business’ end, Arteta and co. will look to bag the all-elusive Premier League title while Liverpool will strive to give Klopp the perfect farewell gift.
