Premier League title contenders Arsenal have been struggling for form as of late. Three consecutive losses against West Ham United, Liverpool, and Fulham put the side led by Mikel Arteta in fourth position. A recent video of the Spanish tactician enjoying his time off has caused a lot of commotion on social media. The Arsenal boss was spotted at a luxury ‘celebrity’ restaurant in Dubai.
Arsenal are currently struggling for form as they let slip of top position in the Premier League. A loss against Liverpool saw them crash out of the FA Cup as well. Nusret Gokce, popularly known as Salt Bae, runs several luxury restaurants, which are popular destinations for celebrities. The Arsenal boss was spotted at the restaurant, as a ‘cringeworthy’ clip of him and Salt Bae has making rounds on Football Twitter.
The video features the Arsenal manager in Salt Bae’s restaurant, as the two pose for pictures. Arteta is also ‘fed’ a piece of what appears to be a steak by the celebrity chef.
While some had a good laugh at the video, others have taken the opportunity to troll and make fun of the manager. Arsenal are currently on a break in Dubai after a tough run of winter fixtures.
Fans laugh at Mikel Arteta’s ‘awkward’ interaction with Salt Bae
As football Twitter reacts to Mikel Arteta’s most recent video, fans are in splits seeing how the manager has posed with the celebrity chef. A fan commented that the meeting does not bode well for Arsenal’s remaining fixtures. One was convinced that Arsenal were going trophyless, seeing the ‘unserious’ video of the manager. Others laughed at how Arteta bit the ‘dangling’ piece of meat from Salt Bae‘s hands.
Meanwhile, another angle of criticism came from the fact that Arsenal were not going for a striker in the January transfer window. The dining experience will cost more than a striker (Ivan Toney), said an angry fan. Arteta earlier explained that bringing in a striker was not ‘realistic’ at the moment.
Moreover, more comments poured in, with a few taking a dig at Salt Bae’s poor reputation in the footballing community.
A fan labeled the duo as the two most unbearable men in a room. As Arsenal return to action on the 20th of January against Crystal Palace, Arteta and co. need to get back to winning ways if they are to get back into the title race. With their chances of signing a striker in January looking slim, the club will have to make do with the players available at their disposal.
