Mohammed Salah overtakes Steven Gerrard to become Liverpool FCโs 5th all-time highest goalscorer. The Egyptian found the initially missed from 12 yards but slotted in the rebound after Neto saved his penalty. The Reds overcame Bournemouth 3-1 with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota also appearing on the scoresheet. The Reds were on the back of a 1-1 draw against Chelsea and were in need of a win to kickstart their season.
Liverpool started the game in the worst possible fashion. Jรผrgen Kloppโs side found themselves trailing after just 3 minutes, as the visitors took the lead through Antoine Semenyo. However, the Reds found themselves back in the game through Luis Diaz. At 27 minutes, Diaz flicked up a low cross from Jota before finding the back of the net through an improvised finish.

While Salah scored a rebound after a saved penalty, Diogo Jota scored the 3rd and final goal, sealing the deal for the Reds. Salah followed up on his goal-scoring from last season as he overtook club legend, Steven Gerrard. Both were tied at 186 goals prior to the match. The Egyptian overtook the English midfielder while playing almost half the games. Salah is now the player with 5th most goals only behind Billy Lidell (228), Gordon Hodgson (241), Roger Hunt (285), and Ian Rush (346).
