The star Egyptian forward, who has been the most pivotal player for Liverpool over the past few seasons, sustained an injury in Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations. The injury alarmed Liverpool fans, who felt that Salah’s injury could impact their Premier League title campaign. Leading the Premier League with 45 points from 20 matches, Liverpool hold a two-point lead over reigning champions Manchester City.

Mohamed Salah, the Reds’ top scorer this season with 14 goals, exited the AFCON game in the 45th minute due to an off-the-ball incident, sparking concerns about a potential extended absence. This raised anxiety among Egyptian and Liverpool fans. Yet, Salah alleviated worries by smiling at reporters in the stadium, indicating that he wasn’t in significant discomfort. The team is yet to win a match in the 2023 AFCON, after their first group stage match against Mozambique also ended in a 2-2 draw.

Worries are growing among Egyptian fans as the national team didn’t win against Ghana, making their title prospects uncertain. Ghana scored first with a goal from Mohammed Kudus, and Omar Marmoush equalized for Egypt. Kudus later scored another goal, earning the ‘Player of the Match’ title. Mostafa Mohamed’s 74th-minute goal helped Egypt secure a draw.

Currently, Egypt is in the second position in Group B, behind Cape Verde. Cape Verde will face Ghana today. Egypt aims to win against Cape Verde on January 23rd to enhance their chances of advancing to the knockout stages.
