Morocco has complained to FIFA about the referees during their 2022 FIFA World Cup semifinal match against France on Wednesday per reports. Les Bleus defeated the African team 2-0 that evening, with goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani.

The Moroccan team, however, was furious about the outcome as they left the Al Bayt Stadium, amidst the mildly compelling matchup. The team of Walid Regragui believed that by not receiving two penalties, they were denied the opportunity to go down in history.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has filed an “official complaint” with FIFA. They are said to be dissatisfied with referee Cesar Ramos’ performance and to think that the Mexican neglected numerous obvious judgments.

The FRMF are notably infuriated about two penalties not flashed for Morocco in the initial period. Both Ramos’ choices raised questions, with the African team believing they might have picked a 2-1 advantage further into the half-time break if some other match official had been in command.

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) strongly protested against the arbitration of the Morocco-France match officiated by Mr. Cesar Arturo Ramos. To this end, the FRMF sent a letter to the competent body in which it returns to the arbitration situation which deprived the Moroccan selection of two indisputable penalties in the opinion of several arbitration specialists,” The Royal Moroccan Football Federation said in a statement as reported by Sports Bible.

Among Ramos’ most contentious decisions in Morocco versus France match came when Theo Hernandez gunned down Sofiane Boufal within the box after appearing to miss his grounding and opting to take down the Moroccan player. The official, however, did not similarly perceive the charge. Ramos cited Boufal for diving, and VAR did not step in. The next aspect of the conflict from Morocco was when playmaker Selim Amallah emerged to be dragged down within the box while striving to assess the movement of a pass. His appeals were dismissed.

In the third-place showdown on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium, a World Cup 2022 bronze medal is on the table between Croatia and Morocco, yet neither team will flip their foot on a third-place finish on the biggest platform. In the opening semifinal of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Argentina defeated Croatia 3-0 thanks to a goal from Lionel Messi and two goals from Julian Alvarez. However, in contrast, Morocco was unable to score against France in the other semifinal match.
