Mykhailo Mudryk is on cloud nine at the moment. The Ukranian winger has finally come up with a ‘monumental’ goal for Chelsea against Newcastle United. The 22-year-old’s sublime finish in the 92nd minute of the game came much to the relief of Chelsea fans. However, Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier had a night to forget after an array of errors. Mudryk showed his ‘class’ after the game with a story in support of Newcastle’s right-back.
The Englishman’s poor clearance paved the way for Chelsea’s late equalizer. His attempt to head the ball back to his keeper fell invitingly for Mudryk. He, however, made no mistake to slot it home past Martin Dubravka. Trippier had a ‘head in hands’ moment when he proceeded to miss Newcastle’s second penalty of the night.
Mykhailo Mudryk took to Instagram following the match to post a story in support of Trippier.

His earnest message has struck a chord with fans on social media. Despite all the trolls and criticism Kieran Trippier may be facing at the moment, Mudryk’s decision to ‘console’ his opponent for his errors was lauded by fans on social media.
Eddie Howe refuses to blame Trippier for costly errors vs Chelsea
Kieran Trippier’s regrettable performance against Chelsea has sparked a lot of conversation on social media. However, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has refused to put Trippier in the firing line. He said that Trippier is an extremely strong character. He referred to Trippier as the ‘heartbeat of the team’ and said that his signing has taken the team to a different level.
Howe added that now it’s the club’s turn to ‘look after him and have his back’. Howe explained that Trippier may not be in the best of spirits at the moment. However, the boss overturned the error as something that is part and parcel of the sport. The club have had a very challenging last few games, and have only managed to win 1 out of their last 5 games in all competitions.
Following their poor run of form, Eddie Howe has come under pressure. There is talk of a potential sacking if the manager does not quickly figure out a solution to bring a change in fortune. However, games against Luton Town and Nottingham Forest may help the club get back on their feet. The club are currently 6th in the Premier League and ten points from Arsenal who are in first.
