“Next season we will see the best Lionel Messi in history”- PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi backs the Argentine legend after his poor season in France

PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi supports Lionel Messi after he had a rugged season with Paris St Germain.

The whole football world was in shock when Messi left Barcelona last season. PSG managed to convince Leo to sign for the French champions. But life hasn’t been smooth in Paris for Leo Messi.

Extending his hand to support the Argentine number 10, President Al Khelaifi had this to say: “Messi has made history. It was not his best season, but after 20 years in Barcelona, he was coming to a new country, a new city, a new league, a new team, and a new culture. And also his family, he had Covid… It was not easy.”

Winning the Ligue 1 with PSG was Messi’s only successful part in the 2021-22 season. While playing for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021–2022, Lionel Messi had possibly his poorest season as a professional, scoring just 14 goals in 34 different competitions (PSG).

After spending 17 years with the Catalan giants, the Argentine star parted company with FC Barcelona in the summer of 2021 and headed to the Ligue to sign with PSG on a free transfer.

Expectedly, there was a great deal of commotion among Barcelona supporters throughout the move. However, PSG supporters anticipated seeing Lionel Messi’s brilliance in person. However, now that the season is ended, fans all around the world were somewhat let down by the Argentine’s lackluster performance.
