The racist abuse of Vinicius Junior has shaken the entire world. The Brazilian forward was insulted and slurred with abuse in the match against Valencia. While several football players protested against it, the same was not seen during the racist comments by Jair Bolsonaro.
The former president of Brazil had in some instances made several racist and homophobic statements. The former President of Brazil said, “My children will never be gay nor will they have a black girlfriend because they are well educated.” The statement was not surprisingly protested by any of the football stars. Rather, Neymar campaigned for the former president who came to power even after making such statements.
Likes of several great Brazilian football names found themselves in the list of protestors in the Vinicius Jr. incident. Unlike this incident, Neymar even danced during the campaign of the Brazilian president. No player like Rivaldo, Cafu or Ronaldinho has at all taken any step against the former president.
The incident didn’t set a good precedent at all. During the Vinicius Jr. incident, several fans from Brazil have taken this issue up and compared it with the incident that happened in Valencia. None of the players from Brazil involved in the protest has at all made any statement against it.
Real Madrid players show solidarity with Vinicius Junior in a match against Rayo Vallecano
Real Madrid players made sure to show solidarity with Vinicius Junior. The Los Blancos side has released a statement in their next plan of action to show their protest against racism.
The players of Real Madrid have released an official statement that they would be wearing the number 20 jersey before the match against Rayo Vallecano. The number 20 which is the jersey number of the Brazilian forward will be worn by all during the pre-match warm-up.
Real Madrid has already lodged a complaint before the public prosecutor of Spain. The Los Blancos side has also asked La Liga to take action against Valencia. The Spanish football association has also said Valencia will not have fans in their stand for three matches.
Valencia has also released a statement that they have identified people in stands who are responsible for racism. Vinicius Junior has also posted a video on Instagram about the instances of racism he has faced in Spain.
