Neymar Junior has been in the spotlight again. The Brazilian superstar admitted cheating on his pregnant girlfriend and thus has attracted attention. However, amidst all this, one of his posts from 2018 has been catching everyone’s attention lately.

The winger tore his ankle ligament and broke his fifth metatarsal while playing for PSG in 2018. The Starman was doubtful for even the world cup that year and spent a long time recovering. Although he did make it to the world cup, Neymar was underwhelming in the campaign.

While Neymar was recovering, he posted an inspirational quote. Footballers tend to post inspirational stuff often while undergoing tough times, however, Neymar’s post was a little controversial. Neymar used a quote from Stephen Hawking.

“You have to have a positive attitude and make the best of the situation you are in,” said the quote, which was accompanied by a photo of the player. However, Neymar posted this while being in a wheelchair himself. Many people assumed the winger was likening himself to the wheelchair-user genius Hawking, and people particularly found the use of the quote to be bad in taste.

PSG pushing for Neymar’s move to Chelsea

PSG is hoping that Chelsea will raise the money necessary to pursue Neymar’s signing during the summer transfer window. In previous transfer windows, there have been rumors about Neymar’s potential availability. But this time, he might be a part of a huge exodus from the French champs, with Leo Messi being the most notable figure to leave.

In today’s world, Neymar’s quality is still top-notch and unquestioned. Despite being at the pinnacle of his game and entering the later years of his career. His probable transfer to the Premier League would definitely spark a lot of attention because he is regarded as ‘world-class’ in the game.

However, it is unclear whether Neymar would rank as Chelsea’s top recruitment priority for this summer. Todd Boehly has demonstrated a desire to sign high-profile players to the club since assuming control. As a result of several players leaving this transfer window early, PSG is hoping Chelsea will pursue Neymar. Kalidou Koulibaly had only spent one season with the club before it was confirmed a few days earlier that he had permanently left Stamford Bridge.
