Neymar Jr‘s father, Neymar Da Silva Santos, was arrested after carrying out banned construction on the footballer’s Rio de Janeiro mansion on Thursday. The arrest was part of an operation by the local Mangaratiba Municipal Environment Department along with the Environmental Military Police and the agents of the municipality’s Environmental Protection Group.
According to reports, an argument between, Neymar Sr. and Mangaratiba’s secretary of the environment, Shayenne Barreto broke out right before the arrest. Although released later, Neymar Sr. was warned that the workers who are in charge needed to be properly trained on what they were doing. The watchdogs also fined him £822,000 for damages.
The first complaint to the authorities was lodged after Neymar Jr. posted a video. In it, the player showed the artificial lake he was having constructed at his property in Rio.
The Paris Saint Germain forward captioned it with, “Almost there… Looking forward to taking advantage of this amazing gift that Genesis Ecossistemas is making! There’s not much left.” While it garnered praise from the fans, it also fell into the radar of law enforcement.
