Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears when Portugal was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup in 2022. Morocco, relative unknown prior to the World Cup, pulled off one of the greatest upsets in football history by defeating Portugal 1-0 to advance to the tournament’s semi-final. Morocco became the first African nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup semifinals as a result of their heroic victory.
Cristiano Ronaldo broke down in tears and was seen sobbing on the field. Even in the tunnel, he found it difficult to control his emotions. Ronaldo’s ambition of winning the elusive trophy won’t come true because this was his final World Cup. Finishing the job for Morocco, Youssef En-Nesyri scored the game-winning goal for his team in the 42nd minute, and Morocco led Portugal 1-0 at the break.
After the first half, Portugal reacted swiftly to make a significant change and in the 50th minute, brought in subs Cristiano Ronaldo. The star footballer was immediately put into action, but he blew a couple of chances. Although the crowd went wild when he came onto the field, Portugal’s chances of scoring an equalizer were not greatly affected.
