“No. 10 is waiting for him” – Newcastle United’s Joelinton wants ‘Idol’ Neymar to join the Magpies

Newcastle United striker Joelinton has made an audacious request for Neymar to join the Magpies this summer. Newcastle have already had a busy summer, bringing in Matt Targett, Sven Botman, and Nick Pope after a busy January window. There is no sign that the Magpies have finished spending, with Joelinton urging the club to make an audacious bid for Neymar.

With Kylian Mbappe having renewed his contract with PSG, Neymar has been linked with a move away from the club. And Newcastle, which is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, is one of the very few potential suitors who can afford the sport’s most expensive player.

“We can get him a spot, sure! In any team in the world. If he comes it will be…” he told Cast FC in a recent interview. “I can’t explain it, the man is an idol, is huge in world soccer. So, the invitation is done. Ney, if you are listening to this, you can come. I’ll run for you all the time.”

Joelinton also tries to lure Neymar with his favourite No. 10 shirt at Newcastle United

Newcastle already have a tricky winger in Allan Saint-Maximin, but Joelinton did not hesitate in offering away his team-mate’s number 10 shirt.“If we have the chance I hope the coach will call him. The number 10 shirt is there waiting for him. I’ll send a message to Bruno [Guimaraes]. Bruno has his contact, he can send a message inviting Ney to play there.”

Neymar insisted last month that he had no plans to leave PSG, but this hasn’t stopped speculation about his long-term future. International teammate Thiago Silva has also encouraged him to join Chelsea, while Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hinted that the club’s ‘bling-bling’ stars may be sold.

Magpies’ new mega-rich owners will be on the lookout for a marquee signing, and if previous big-money takeovers are anything to go by, a quarter-washed-up 30+ superstar would probably fit the bill.
