“No matter how sad you are, Manchester United must always Brighton your day”- Twitter reacts as the Red Devils suffer a humiliating defeat against Brighton in Premier League 2021-22
Manchester United
Manchester United was looking to close the gap for the fourth spot race but Brighton scored four goals against Rangnick’s men. They produced a brilliant performance to defeat the Red Devils at the Amex Stadium as they were slaughtered in one of the poorest seasons.
Ronaldo’s side was the favorite to take all three points and close the gap with Tottenham and Arsenal and hope to stay in the race but Brighton’s player totally shattered them and put four goals past De Gea.
Moises Caicedo put the Seagulls ahead in the first half as they produced 17 shots of which six were on target to Manchester United’s five on target but they failed to get past Brighton’s goalkeeper. The loss has made it crystal clear that Ralf Rangnick’s side will not play the Champions League next season courtesy of today’s defeat and now will look to finish in the top six to qualify for the Europa League.
Here are some reactions from the fans on Twitter as memes go viral targeting the poor United’s defense and lack of confidence throughout the game:
Manchester United’s humiliating defeat is a big worry for upcoming boss Eric Ten Hag as the team’s performance won’t please him at all. The Red Devils will remain at the sixth spot with 58 points and won’t reach the Champions League next season.
This is their worst finish in the table as they will record the lowest point in the 2021/22 season after the last game they play. They will look to win the next game to keep distance from the seventh-place West Ham to qualify for the Europa League.
Manchester United vs Brighton: As it Happened
Brighton has two games in hand and they stay in the 9th position after their win against the Red Devils 4-0 and slaughtered Ronaldo’s side in the game. Rangnick’s side stays at the sixth spot with one game in hand and hopes to qualify for the Europa League next season.
This is their lowest total ever in a Premier League campaign after a poor season they had despite returning their “old horse” Cristiano Ronaldo, who couldn’t help his team to end their season in a respectful style. His future remains doubtful under Ten Hag and after they failed to qualify for the UCL, this might be the last two games for his old club.
