In honor of World Mental Health Day, Norwich City released a short 2:27 minute clip on X. To raise awareness on mental health issues, the clip reminded everyone to “Check in on those around you.”
The clip shares the story of two Norwich City fans who watch their club play week in-week out. By the end, however, it is revealed that one of them is suffering from mental health issues which is brought to attention after one of them is shown laying down a scarf on his friend’s, now empty, seat. The video uploaded on the 10th of October has garnered loads of attention. Many have appreciated the club’s initiative to bring awareness to this global issue.
In a subsequent post, Norwich City shared details about their website where people can avail mental health resources. Including helpline numbers if immediate help is required, links to other initiatives the club has taken, and overall focus on several other mental health problems people might come across.
The club from Norfolk also had their kit sponsors logo replaced with ‘Samaritans‘. It is a charity focused on suicide prevention. The Canaries wore this kit in their latest game against Coventry City.
The video from Norwich is a gentle reminder that anyone can suffer from issues invisible to the public eye.

Norwich City’s Premier League aspirations
Following their relegation in the 2021/22 Premier League season, Norwich City have been unable to recapture their Championship form since then. Their first season back in the 2nd division was followed by disappointment as the club finished in 13th place. They lost 4 out of their last 5 games in the season.
Daniel Farke‘s departure midway through the 2021 season had a huge impact on the club. Costing the club’s promotion on two separate occasions. Now in 2023, Norwich is currently sitting in 7th place in the EFL Championship, one point behind Birmingham City which currently holds the last playoff spot.
With over 35 games remaining in the season, Norwich City will need to be consistent in their approach if they wish to play under the Premier League lights once again.
The Canaries have shown intent in their play scoring the third-highest goals in the league this season. However, their leaky defense remains a problem conceding on average more than 2 goals a game.
David Wagner – former Borussia Dortmund reserve team coach – is currently at the helm for Norwich City and will look to prove himself in the Premier League once again after a poor stint in the top flight of English Football with Huddersfield Town in 2019.
