“Nothing lasts forever”- Bruno Fernandes opens up about his future relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo post Manchester United exit
Bruno Fernandes talks about Cristiano Ronaldo and bond after his Manchester United exit
Bruno Fernandes emphasized that it wouldn’t be ‘uncomfortable’ to start beside Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, amidst his club teammate’s separation from Manchester United. Earlier, Ronaldo slammed Manchester United in a sensational interview with Piers Morgan, calling the club a “marketing club” and admitting that he has “no respect” for coach Erik Ten Hag.
These confessions have influenced Ronaldo and United to part ways, with the team announcing on Tuesday evening that their legend goalie’s contract had been ended with immediate effect. These revelations come only around two days before Portugal’s World Cup opener against Ghana, and yet Fernandes insists that Ronaldo’s departure will not have an impact on performance among the national team players.
‘No, Cris hasn’t discussed with me,’ Fernandes said during Portugal’s press conference when questioned if Ronaldo had spoken to him about exiting Manchester United. “I don’t feel uncomfortable (playing with Ronaldo now),” Fernandes added via Skysports.
“It was a privilege to play with Cristiano Ronaldo at the national team. It was a dream come true to be playing with Cristiano at the club, but nothing lasts forever.”
Fernandes also acknowledged that playing with Ronaldo at Old Trafford was a “dream come true” for him and understood the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s choice to seek a fresh challenge and considers him to be oriented on leading Portugal to World Cup glory.

Portugal enters the FIFA World Cup 2022 as the favorite to advance from Group H. In their opening FIFA World Cup match, Cristiano and co, will face Ghana. Bruno Fernandes has been outstanding for the Selecao in games recently, commanding the midfield and demonstrating that he possesses the delivery skills to propel his squad forward. In Portugal’s friendly against Nigeria, the Manchester United midfielder scored a brace.
Ronaldo and Fernandes have been teammates at the domestic and international levels for the past 15 months, but the former is presently searching for a new club. ‘We know what the World Cup means to Cristiano Ronaldo, and I’m sure his focus has always been for that,’ Bruno concluded.
