“I am ready to be myself”- Blackpool striker Jake Daniels becomes the first UK footballer to come out as gay since 1990

According to reports, the Blackpool striker Jake Daniels becomes the first UK professional male footballer to make a statement after claiming himself as gay since Justin Fashanu in 1990. The 17-year-old kid of Blackpool revealed that he hid the status of being gay just to fulfil his dream of becoming a professional footballer as he thought revealing his sexual identity might affect his career.
He further felt confident after becoming a professional footballer as a Blackpool striker and opens up bravely in an interview. Daniels claimed, “the time is right to be myself, be free and be confident with it all.”
The young striker praised his current club Blackpool to be amazing in the way of supporting him and every other player was supportive to make him feel safe. The club was a safe place for the striker as they didn’t turn their back on him after his confessions. He further claimed that the fact didn’t allow him to focus on his career and the tension was always surrounding him with negative ideas and thoughts.
“Now is the right time to do it. I feel like I am ready to tell people my story. I want people to know the real me. I have been thinking for a long time about how I want to do it and when I want to do it. I know now is the time. I am ready to be myself, be free, and be confident with it all”, Daniel told in an interview with SkySports.
“Blackpool has been absolutely amazing too. I am with them every day and I felt safe. My teammates have all been so supportive about it and everyone has had my back They’ve been asking tons of questions, they have all been intrigued and their reaction has been brilliant. It’s the best thing I could have asked for,” he added.

Jake Daniels receives the support of many football organizations after he comes out

Jake Daniels came out openly as a gay footballer which requires a ton of courage but got strong support from the footballing world which helped him mentally.
The FIFPRO tweeted about the support that he should receive and believes it to be courageous as they extend their support in ensuring his safe career in football. They also thanked their teammates and the club management for staying by his side.
