OFFICIAL: Gerard Pique and Shakira separate after 12 years

After several days of rumors and speculations, it has officially been confirmed. The power couple of footballer Gerard Pique and singer Shakira have announced they have separated after 12 years of being together.

Here is what their statement said, “We regret to confirm that we are separating. For the well-being of our children, who are our top priority, we ask for respect for our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”

Pique and Shakira met during the shooting for the world famous Waka Waka song which was the official world cup for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. They have 2 children together, a boy and a girl. They have been together all this time and the Colombian singer moved to Barcelona to start a family with the footballer. They have two children, Milan and Sasha.

Why did Gerard Pique and Shakira split up?

Lorena Vazquez and Laura Fa, who are two journalists at El Periodico, have affirmed that Pique was meeting with a young blonde girl aged 20, who is a student and an event hostess at a nightclub in Barcelona. However, her identity has not been revealed, at least not yet.

The report claims that Pique was seen with this woman several times and that thr Colombian singer found out about this. She then confronted him about it wherein he admitted that he was cheating.

The journalists also mentioned that Pique was accompanied by many Barcelona teammates, including youngster Riqui Puig at these nightclubs where he met other women and spent 2-3 days there with them. Laura also said that Pique’s friends were also involved in his outings to such places and found it strange that the player went back home late at night knowing he has training early morning next day.

The relationship appears to be very tense right now and other parents at their children’s school have stated that Shakira and Pique haven’t been seen picking up the kids together for some time. It is even alleged that she took the children to Ibiza for a family holiday in May, but that Pique didn’t join them.
