“One month ago he was a disaster, now he’s going to break every record”- Manchester City boss on Erling Haaland

Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland

Pep Guardiola is being discreet about other milestones Erling Haaland might set this season even though the Norwegian has already scored nine goals in five games. The striker recorded consecutive hat-tricks. Haaland’s adaption was lauded by Guardiola.

Erling Haaland set a new record for the most goals in the first five Premier League games of a season with his second hat-trick in as many games as Manchester City defeated Nottingham Forest. Guardiola resisted making any comments about the likelihood that Haaland will set even more records, acknowledging that he is unable to predict the future.

In response to a question about whether Erling Haaland was on track to establish additional records, Guardiola said: “I admire the people who can anticipate what happens in the future, I cannot do it. One month ago he was a disaster, now he’s going to break everything. I can’t see what happens, I don’t know what happens tomorrow. Imagine what happens in two years. We are delighted for how he settles. Not just Erling, the staff and backroom staff is so important how they help to adapt the new players and the mates are really good. This is the most important thing.”

Manchester City made the right choice in adding Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland signed a contract with City in May 2022, but after a challenging debut in the Community Shield, some questioned if he would fit well with English football. With nine goals in just five games, he has dispelled any doubts and is dominating the Premier League.

There were only 70 minutes of football played between Haaland’s first goal of his hat-trick against Crystal Palace and the final of his hat-trick against Forest. On September 3, Manchester City will play an unfocused Aston Villa, and on September 6, they will go to Sevilla for their first Champions League group match.
