Courtney Reum, an American entrepreneur and the brother-in-law of Paris Hilton, is all set to start his football career as he signed for Portuguese club Vilaverdense. The club currently are playing in the Liga Portugal 2 and are 17th in the league.
Reum, who played Varsity Football for Columbia University, used to work at Goldman Sachs. He then later started his alcohol brand called VeeV Spirit, which he sold in 2016. In the same year, he founded M13, which is a venture capital firm. He founded it with his brother, Carter Reum, who is married to Hilton.
Earlier playing football during his college days, the 45-year-old has decided to turn his focus to professional football, joining Vilaverdense. The American has never played professional football in his life, but the club believes he has the “energy of a 20-year-old” despite being 45.
He recently took to Instagram, where he posted a photo of him wearing the club’s green kit. The club recently signed Sherwin Seedorf, a distant relative of Dutch legend Clarence Seedorf. The club plays Santa Clara on 2nd February in their 1000-seater Campo Cruz do Reguengo.
Apart from playing Varsity football, Reum is also the founder and co-chairman of the U.S. Soccer Los Angeles Development Council. The USS LADC is a group of ambassadors who are involved in spreading the sport across communities in the city.
Oldest football players who are still playing
Being 45 years old, Paris Hilton’s brother-in-law Courtney Reum becomes one of the oldest players in the world. As of now, the oldest player in the world is Uruguayan Robert Carmona, who is 61 years old. Carmona currently plays in the 4th division of the Uruguayan league. He captains the club Hacele Un Gol a la Vida, where he plays as a center-back.
At 2nd comes Japanese forward, Kazuyoshi Miura. The attacker is 55 years old, playing at the U.D. Olivereinese – who are also in the Liga Portugal 2. He is on loan at the club from Yokohama FC, who play in the top tier of Japanese football.
If Reum does make his debut this season, he could be one of the oldest footballers to play his first game. Although he has not officially announced himself joining Vilaverdense, many believe the deal is finalized and confirmed by Portuguese media house, BOLA.
