“Pathetic”- Football pundit defends Cristiano Ronaldo after ‘humiliating’ behavior by Manchester United manager
Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag
Piers Morgan has slammed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag yet again for his treatment of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese was an unused substitute as Ten Hag’s side easily defeated Tottenham in his absence, thanks to goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes.
Cristiano Ronaldo reacted in typical fashion to being left out by storming down the tunnel at Old Trafford before full-time. In the 89th minute, the 37-year-old walked out of his seat and did not rejoin his ecstatic teammates in the dressing room.
Jamie O’Hara called his actions a ‘disgrace,’ while Neil Warnock said if he was manager, he’d drag him in for extra training. Gabby Agbonlahor even suggested that Ronaldo be punished and removed from the United squad ahead of Saturday’s game against Chelsea. Morgan, on the other hand, came to Ronaldo’s defense on social media, blaming Ten Hag for the issue.
“The way Ten Hag seems to delight in humiliating [Ronaldo] is pathetic,” Morgan tweeted on Thursday morning.
“Sticking the world’s greatest ever footballer on the bench, making him repeatedly warm up, then not even use him as a sub, is just staggeringly disrespectful to United’s top scorer last season.”

Erik ten Hag has humiliated Cristiano Ronaldo by dropping him out of the squad for the match against Chelsea
Erik ten Hag has punished Cristiano Ronaldo by leaving him out of Manchester United’s squad for Saturday’s game against Chelsea. An club official statement stated: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
The statement comes after the striker stormed down the tunnel before full-time in United’s 2-0 home win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. Ronaldo had been an unused substitute and had sat on the bench until the 89th minute.
