Former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has confessed to consuming some food items without knowing they contained testosterone. Such statements came to light after he tested positive for doping. The French World Cup winner now faces a provisional four-year ban from professional football altogether. This is going to be a massive blow to his career.

NADO Italia, Italy’s anti-doping agency, investigated and suspended Paul Pogba. However, authorities will conduct a second test sample to confirm the initial findings. If the test yields a positive result, the National Anti-Doping Tribunal will proceed with Pogba’s trial and subsequently confirm his suspension.

In a significant setback for Italian club Juventus, UEFA, the governing body for European football, has banned them from participating in the Europa Conference League. It is due to violations of Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play rules. This decision follows a formal investigation initiated by the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) in December.

This had raised concerns about the club’s compliance with financial regulations. In a statement, UEFA announced its decision and imposed an additional financial contribution of 20 million euros on Juventus. With half of this amount, 10 million euros, being conditional based on the club’s financial statements for 2023, 2024, and 2025 meeting accounting requirements.

Juventus’ exclusion from the Europa Conference League is a significant blow to the club, given their previous standing in Serie A and qualification for the playoff round of the competition. This development underscores the importance of financial compliance in European football, and how Juventus will navigate this setback in the coming seasons remains to be seen.
