Paul Pogba set to be out of action for months due to an injury again just weeks after signing a new contract with Juventus

After suffering a knee injury during preseason practice, Paul Pogba may not be available to start the Serie A season.

The midfielder’s agreement with Manchester United ended, and he returned to Juventus earlier this month. In 2012, Pogba moved from Manchester to Turin, but he later decided to return to Old Trafford in a deal of a then-record £89 million.

Now back with Juventus, he began Saturday’s 2-0 friendly victory over Guadalajara of Mexico. Given that the 29-year-old hobbled out of training in Los Angeles on Monday, it may be his final appearance for some time.

Is Paul Pogba’s injury serious?

It has been determined that Pogba has a lesion of his lateral meniscus after a social media photograph of him being helped off the field by medical personnel surfaced. The injury’s seriousness is not yet known. Pogba will visit a specialist rather than go to Dallas for Wednesday’s friendly match with Barcelona, according to Juventus.

The club said in a statement that Paul Pogba complained of soreness in his right knee and underwent radiological testing, which found a lesion of the lateral meniscus.

“He will have an orthopedic consultation with a doctor in the coming hours. He is therefore skipping the journey to Dallas in order to complete his therapy.”

Last season, Juventus placed fourth in Serie A, 16 points behind winners AC Milan. This summer, manager Massimiliano Allegri reorganized his team, and two midfielders have been informed they would not be returning to the Allianz Stadium.

In the upcoming month, Arthur Melo and Aaron Ramsey are anticipated to leave, and Adrien Rabiot is apparently interested in returning to Paris Saint-Germain. The Old Lady may not have enough alternatives in the middle of the field when they face Sassuolo on August 15.

While living in England, Pogba lifted the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, but he was unable to win over United supporters.
