Juventus star Paul Pogba was recently tested for doping. After being subjected to a doping test back in August, the player’s results came back positive. This sparked controversy and eventually led to him being suspended provisionally. After the news went viral, Pogba admitted to consuming testosterone-induced substances. However, he added that he did so without his knowledge.
After the incident, a ‘counter analysis’ or Sample B was taken. As results were positive for ‘Sample B’ as well, the 31-year-old risks suspension and a 2-4 year ban. If the player is found guilty of doping, the ban may run into a 4-year period. The Italian doping agency (NADO Italia) has refused to comment on the same.
Juventus have also maintained silence regarding the issue. Moreover, Pogba’s contact with the club runs until 2026. Following the provisional ban, his agent made comments about it. Rafaela Pimenta assured that her player had no intention of violating regulations. Paul Pogba was an unused substitute against Udinese Calcio when he was called aside for doping, increasing controversy surrounding the issue.
Juventus set to take on Torino in Serie A on Saturday
After a disappointing draw against Atalanta, Juventus are set to take on Torino. The Italian giants have had a decent start to the season and find themselves fourth in Serie A. The Old Lady’s season has been marred with injuries and suspensions. The club is currently navigating the Paul Pogba scandal and ownership issues.
While Dusan Vlahovic remains doubtful with a back injury, Moise Kean is also doubtful for Saturday’s fixture. Massimiliano Allegri will stick with Wojciech Szczęsny in goal. He is likely to entrust the back three of Bremer, Gatti and Danilo. In midfield, Weston McKennie, Fagioli, Locatelli and Adrien Rabiot will secure their spots.
Allegri’s go-to attacking duo is Federico Chiesa and Moise Kean. Fans can expect the same pair to start against Torino. Juventus have 4 wins from their opening 7 games. The club will have to lookout for an in-form Nemanja Radonjic. The midfielder has scored 3 goals so far. Moreover, the club has been winless in their last 3 games and will look to get back to winning ways.
