Pep Guardiola is no stranger to antics, both on and off the pitch. The legendary manager, despite his unbelievable record in almost every competition he has partook in, has a strange way of reacting on certain occasions. His side were goalless in the 0-0 display against Arsenal at the Etihad. Following the full-time whistle, the manager took to the pitch, and was seen engaged in a heated conversation with Jack Grealish.
The £100 million-man was subbed on in the 61st minute for Mateo Kovacic, and despite having two successful dribbles and one key pass on goal, did not impress the City boss. Cameras captured a passionate rant by Guardiola, aimed at City’s No.10, in which he aggressively pointed to the pitch, as if to remind him of a mistake he made during the game.
beIN Sports football anchor Richard Keys slammed the manager for his antics and said that he should have saved his reactions for the dressing room. Keys called out Pep Guardiola for always having to do it for the cameras and making things about himself.
While a few may be under the impression that the City boss overdoes his post-match reactions, his five Premier League and three UCL titles speak for itself.
City boss swoops in to set things straight between Erling Haaland and Gabriel Magalhães
Manchester City versus Arsenal was dubbed as the title decider for both sides involved. However, a 0-0 draw at the Etihad saw tensions flaring at full-time as Liverpool now sit on top of the Premier League. City star and goal-getter Erling Haaland was rather silent on Sunday as the Norwegian failed to make a single shot on goal against his opponents.
Two shots off-target and a big chance missed gave the City No.9 every reason to not be pleased with his performance. A significant chunk of the credit for keeping City silent in front of goal goes to Arsenal’s centre-back pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães. Shortly after the full-time whistle, Haaland and Gabriel exchanged words.
The battle between the two was rather interesting, especially in the final stages of the game. Haaland had his appeal for being fouled by the Brazilian inside the area dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor. Gabriel retaliated by shouting at the City forward. At the end of the game, cameras captured the two setting their differences aside as Pep Guardiola stepped in to set things straight between the two.
