Jose Mourinho has taken a cheeky dig at rival coach Pep Guardiola about one of his recent transfers. The Portuguese aimed a subtle ‘jab’ at Manchester City’s ‘failed’ transfer of Kalvin Phillips. The Citizens brought in the midfielder for a £42 million fee. However, the player never managed to break into the starting line-up and is now tipped to move away in January.
Legendary managers Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho have battled it out both on and off the football pitch throughout the years. The Spaniard is currently the manager of Manchester City while Mourinho piles his trade at Italian club AS Roma. Guardiola most recently won the treble with City while Mourinho led his side to a Europa League final and a UEFA Europa Conference League title in the previous two seasons.

While Mourinho is finding it hard to sign a player he likes, at City the Spainrd is getting anyone he asks for even though they are not the necessary prices to the puzzle. Reacting to the situation while addressing the Kalvin Phelps situation, the Portuguese football mastermind commented;
I'm not jealous, but City paid €80 million for Phillips and now they're selling him for someone else.
Mourinho added to the same, commenting “We are in a different reality“. The club would love two, three, or more players, said José. However, “we have difficulties doing that” complained the Champions League winner. AS Roma has largely relied on loan deals such as Romelu Lukaku, Renato Sanches, and Sardar Azmoun. Mourinho was cheekily aiming for Guardiola’s freedom to ‘experiment’ and spend extravagant amounts in the transfer market.
Pep Guardiola shares ‘touching’ moment with Micah Hamilton
Micah Hamilton scored in his senior debut for Manchester City. The 20-year-old not only scored but also won a penalty for City in his debut vs Crvena Zvezda. The youngster’s performance warranted praise both on social media as well as from head coach Pep Guardiola. It was revealed to Guardiola in a post-match interview that Hamilton used to be a ball boy for the club back in 2017.

A video posted by Manchester City’s official page features the tactician giving instructions to the young lad. Almost six years down the road, Hamilton is now a Man City starlet and has put up a noticeable performance in City’s last group stage game.
In the post-match interview, Guardiola said “Six years ago? He grew up, huh?“, expressing his surprise at the coincidence. He also praised the youngster’s overall game and skill in front of goal. He also congratulated the Manchester City academy for producing a top talent like Hamilton.
Guardiola also added that Hamilton has been regularly training with the first team. “I’m so happy for him“, concluded the manager. Manchester City topped their Champions League group by a margin of 6 points.
