Pep Guardiola reveals what separates Lionel Messi from the likes of Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola praises Erling Haaland, comparing him to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The Spaniard says that the Norwegian is a machine very similar to Ronaldo. The Spaniard again says Messi is a more complete player who can play in any position and Haaland needs to work hard to reach his level. The Man City boss makes this comparison after a brilliant performance by the City Striker despite having doubts about his fitness before the game. 

The Cityzens bagged a 4-1 victory against Southampton earlier on Saturday. And as a norm, the Norwegian striker scored a brace with a brilliant header and a perfect bicycle kick converting both chances.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has had a splendid season in his new club scoring 44 goals in all competitions. Haaland is the only player right now to have a Goals per match ratio above one in the Champions League surpassing Lionel Messi, Ronaldo, and Pushkas, just at the age of 22. The Norwegian managed to score a total of 10 goals in six champions league matches and 30 goals in just 27 Premier League matches.

Guardiola also states that it is necessary for the Norwegian wonder boy to keep working hard to reach the levels of Messi and Ronaldo. He says that the striker is aware of why Messi and Ronaldo dominated football for more than two decades.“Erling knows those two guys dominated over two decades not just one or two seasons, winning titles and doing everything. Football is a better place for Cristiano and Messi for what they have done for our business, the traction of these two guys competing at the big clubs,” said Pep while making the comparison.

Haaland set to create a new Premier League record for the most goals scored in a single season

With more than nine matches left in this season, the 22-year-old Norwegian is three goals away from creating a new record. The Netizen striker sits with already 30 goals in just 27 matches for his new club. Haaland is on the verge of scoring a new record for scoring the most goals in a single premier league season. Mohammed Salah currently has 32 goals in the 2017-18 season in 38 match campaign. Earlier with 42 matches a season, the table was led by Andy Cole scoring 34 goals in 42 matches in the 1993- 94 season.

The City striker has still 9 games in hand, with his current goal conversion ratio he is set to create a new record for the highest number of goals scored in a single season. The Cityzen’s striker would now face Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich in the Champions League Quarter Final in the Etihad Stadium on April 11.
