Manchester City and Pep Guardiola has agreed to a new deal that will keep him with the Premier League team through 2025. The Spanish coach will stay at the Etihad Stadium for an additional two years after his current contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Guardiola joined City in 2016, and since then, he has presided over the most prosperous time in the club’s history, leading them to a total of four league titles and nine major trophies. But he has yet to succeed in leading City to a Champions League victory. His stint with the defending Premier League Champions will extend to nine years after the extension, greatly beyond any of his prior managerial positions.
After Manchester City’s 1-0 away win over Chelsea in the Premier League on September 25, Guardiola surpassed Les McDowall as the manager with the most victories in the club’s history. Guardiola is the most successful manager in the club’s history. He has won 10 major English league and cup trophies to date, and he has also maintained a win percentage above 70%, which is at least 10% greater than that of any other manager before him.

Pep Guardiola plays an important role for Manchester City
English Premier League is one of numerous domestic championships that Manchester City has won. They have been one of the league’s most dominant teams in recent years, and they have also won additional titles including the Carabao Cup. You have to ask yourself, “How many trophies have Man City won?” given that they are currently one of the largest clubs in the world. The UEFA Champions League is the only significant trophy that Man City hasn’t won.
Guardiola had a successful tenure at City. In total, he has 11 major trophies under his belt, including four of the last five Premier League championships. He has presided over 374 games in all competitions, and he has won 271 of them, for a remarkable win percentage of 72.4%. During that time, City has scored 921 goals, averaging 2.46 goals per game. His 374 games in command place him second on City’s record of longest-serving post-war managers, behind only Les McDowall, who oversaw 587 games from 1950 to 1963.
Guardiola was a defensive midfielder who typically operated as a playmaker from a deep position. He played for Barcelona for the entirety of his career, playing in Johan Cruyff’s Dream Team that captured the club’s first European Cup in 1992 as well as four straight Spanish league titles from 1991 to 1994.
From 1997 until his retirement from the club in 2001, he served as the team’s captain. In the following years, Guardiola spent time with Brescia, Roma, Al-Ahli, and Dorados de Sinaloa in Italy, Qatar, and Mexico, respectively. He played at the FIFA World Cup in 1994 and the UEFA Euro 2000 for Spain, earning 47 caps for his country. He also participated in friendlies for Catalonia.
