Axed Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been on fire this season. The Gabon center-forward signed for Olympique de Marseille and has become the focal point of attack for the club. Since his move to Marseille in the summer, Aubameyang has successfully silenced his critics. He has become undroppable for manager Gennaro Gattuso.
He has already scored 18 goals in the campaign, including a recent hat-trick against Ajax in the Europa League. Aubameyang is proving to be a pivotal contributor to Marseille’s success as they challenge for silverware.
He has reached 20 goal contributions with a perfectly timed chip over the opposition keeper. Manager Genaro Gattusso‘s tactics have played a huge role in maximizing Aubameyang’s abilities. He has transformed into a much more clinical player at 34. Having scored in consecutive league games, Auba has showcased his resilience and determination after a harsh period with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has also played in the second-striker position and expressed himself as an entirely new player on the pitch. He has confirmed his love for the French club, which has given him a perfect environment and tactical adjustment to adapt and perform at the highest level.
Lyon fans banned from Marseille game
Olympique Lyonnais supporters have been barred from attending the rescheduled Ligue 1 match against Olympique de Marseille. It was announced by the French Interior Ministry on Tuesday. The decision stems from concerns about a potential clash between fans, following the abandonment of the original game on October 29. It was when Lyon’s team bus was attacked, causing injuries to coach Fabio Grosso.
The official order prohibits the travel of any individual claiming to be a supporter of Olympique Lyonnais or displaying such behavior between the municipalities of the Rhone department and Marseille on December 6, 2023. This emphasizes the genuine and significant risk of confrontations between rival fan bases.
The decree outlines the persistent threat to public order posed by certain supporters or individuals associated with Olympique Lyonnais, citing their frequent involvement in disturbances. The decision to bar Lyon fans underscores the broader challenges faced by French football in managing fan behavior.
Recent incidents, including the stabbing of a Nantes supporter, highlight the need for enhanced security measures and strict preventive actions to ensure the safety of all stakeholders involved in football events.
