FC Barcelona and Spain Veteran Sergio Busquets spoke about Real Madrid’s Champions League victory, Cristiano Ronaldo, and his future at Barca. 

Busquets has been currently training with the national side ahead of the international break. The defensive midfielder took out some time to speak about his Barcelona future and he mentioned Cristiano Ronaldo as well. Spain faces Portugal tomorrow in the UEFA Nations League.

What did Sergio Busquets say about Cristiano Ronaldo?

When asked about the clash against Portugal and facing Ronaldo, Busquets said, “Cristiano Ronaldo? Playing against players like him is what every player wants and desires. I am happy to keep playing against him.”

If Busquets makes an appearance this Thursday, he will equal Xavi’s record of appearances for the Spanish national side. He said he is looking forward to that and he will be very happy to pass the milestone. “What truly matters is the experience we have gained”, said the Barcelona captain.

The 33-year-old also applauded Real Madrid‘s valiant champions league win over Liverpool. Ee appreciated Real Madrid for making incredible comebacks throughout the tournament.

He said, “If Madrid have won the Champions League, it’s because they have reached the final. If they have won it, it is because they deserve it and they are just champions.” He also said he healthily envies Madrid’s comebacks and his current focus lies on the national team duties.

When asked about his future at Barcelona he said he has a contract with Barca and he has the World Cup in mind. “It’s not important now. Now it’s important to finish the season well and have a good UEFA Nations league,” he said.  

And about maintaining the very high level at his age he says he tries to take care of his diet, to train, to recover well and focus on what he has to do. With the football calendar getting more intense day by day, he will try to continue as long as he can.

Sergio Busquets is expected to return to action when Spain locks horns against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League.
