Real Madrid won their 14th UEFA Champions League title as Vincinus Jr. scored the only goal of the match to hand them the trophy against Liverpool for the second time after the 2017/18 season. The Los Blancos battled past Liverpool 1-0 and added another laurel to their trophy cabinet.
In his post-match interview, former Arsenal loanee Dani Ceballos revealed that he could feel the pressure even though he was not starting the game while his teammates were calm and composed and enjoying a few rounds of cards just before the ultimate showpiece.
“When I saw all those players such as Karim [Benzema], Carvajal, and Modric playing cards just a few hours before the game I thought, ‘Wow, well, there’s calmness anyway’. I couldn’t even sleep the siesta,” Cabellos said.
This should not come to everyone’s surprise with Real Madrid making five of the last nine Champions League Final and players like Modric, Kroos, Benzema, and Carvajal being an integral part of all of them.
Dani Ceballos came from the bench in place of Luka Modric in the 90th minute which was more of a time-wasting tactic for the Los Blancos but he had an amazing opportunity one-on-one against Allison Becker which he wasted to convert into something meaningful.
Liverpool had the upper hand in the game after a huge number of attempts which was canceled out by the Man of the Moment, Thibaut Courtois as he made 9 crucial saves which is the highest by any goalkeeper in the UCL final.
Klopp’s men did everything they could do to score goals but they were denied by the Belgian. Vinicus Jr. scored the only goal from a pass from Federico Valverde in the 59th minute which helped Real Madrid win their 8th consecutive final of the champions league.

Real Madrid showed their character and intention as they won their 14th champions league title after having only three shot attempts to Liverpool’s twenty-three.
Courtois had an immense contribution to Real Madrid’s victory after making an enormous nine saves to ensure them their 14th glory. Benzema, Modric, Kroos, and several other players equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of winning five champions league trophies when he won four with the Los Blancos and one with Manchester United back in 2008.
This made Carlo Ancelotti the only manager in the history of the Champions League to win four titles and the most decorated manager in competition history.
