777 Partners, a Miami-based company, is close to agreeing to a full takeover of Premier League club, Everton. The club is currently owned by British-Iranian businessman, Farhad Moshiri. 777 Partners has numerous brands under their portfolio, along with football clubs Sevilla, Hertha Berlin, and Standard Liege.
The expected takeover is said to happen after several months, only after Premier League requirements are met. When asked why they wanted to purchase Everton, Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, replied, “If you listen to Josh Wanda, who is one of the leading people at 777, they believe that football doesn’t organise and doesn’t market itself very well.”
However, 777-Partners does not have a positive history with football, as Standard Liege fans protested the company’s involvement in their club. Fans may be worried that the new owners have a business mindset.“The chances are that because of some of the financial challenges that are in front of Everton, they’ll be looking to buy the club at a discounted price,” Maguire replied.
Whether the football brand will generate more revenue is something the club owners will be looking to solve. Farhad Moshiri bought 49.9% of Everton’s stake in 2016. By 2022, he had increased his shares to 94%.

Everton to face relegation battle
Needless to say, Everton are having a hard time coping in the Premier League. Escaping relegation on the final day of the Premier League season, Everton managed to beat Bournemouth in front of a home crowd. It gave the fans a sigh of relief and a momentary escape from what might have happened as the new season arrived.
However, fans might find themselves in a relegation scrap once again. Everton are 18th in the league with 0 wins and 3 losses and have been struggling. With 2 goals scored and 8 conceded, Sean Dyche‘s men have not been able to give their fans a reason to cheer this season. Everton have once again lost their main forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, to injury.
The Englishman has struggled for minutes, as he only managed 4 full 90 minutes of football last season. The striker has not been able to recreate the high of his ’20/21 season, when he scored 16 in the league. Everton has been fighting relegation for the last two seasons. After selling one of their best players, Alex Iwobi, many fans believe this will be the season Merseyside goes down for, the first time since the 1950-51 season.
