The Premier League has had its fair share of scandals and controversy surrounding racial abuse. A post made by Luton Town on social media says that both Sheffield United and South Yorkshire police were swift to act. The police have also opened up an investigation, which is ongoing at the moment. The Premier League has also offered their support to the player after the incident and strongly condemned any form of racism in the league.

As for Luton Town, the club are currently in a relegation spot and are just 2 spots above 20th place. Their most recent game ended in defeat against Chelsea, as goals from Ross Barkley and Elijah Adebayo were not enough to overturn a three-goal deficit. They end 2023 in 18th position and face Bolton next in the FA Cup.
