Cup competitions in Football often call for interesting clashes as top clubs are often drawn against 5th and 6th division clubs. The Coupe de France has given birth to one such moment, as French giants Paris Saint-Germain were drawn against 6th division side U.S. Revel in the Round of 64. A video shared by Fabrizio Romano shows the young players in absolute jubilation as they come to know of their eventual opponents in the competition.

The Coupe de France is the premier cup knockout competition in French football. A mammoth 8,506 teams compete in the competition which is organized by the French Football Federation. The reigning champions are Toulouse with PSG being the most successful team in the competition. The Parisiens have won the title a record 14 times in the past.

Instead of being dreadful and worrisome of a clash against PSG, players and staff were jumping up and down. This led to cheerful chants and joyous dancing as well. U.S. Revel takes on PSG on 7th January in one of the biggest David-Goliath clashes.

PSG faces Borussia Dortmund in a make-or-break Group F decider

The UEFA Champions League group stage nears it’s end as matchday 6 kicks off on Tuesday. French giants PSG are yet to secure qualification as all three sides except for Dortmund (already qualified) have a chance to make the last 16. Luis Enrique‘s team faces Borussia Dortmund on the final matchday as a win would ensure their progression to the Round of 16. However, failure to secure all three points would take their destiny out of their hands.

Newcastle United and AC Milan can also qualify with a win on Wednesday. “The most important thing is to focus on ourselves,” said Luis Enrique. However, he also acknowledged the possibility of qualifying without a win. Dortmund defender Mats Hummels made it clear that Dortmund was looking for all three points against PSG.

We want to finish first and avoid the crazy good teams.

Even though PSG won the first meeting between the two sides 2-0, defeats against Newcastle and AC Milan threaten their chance of qualification. PSG has struggled to get past the Round of 16 in the last two seasons. An even earlier exit this year would threaten Luis Enrique’s future at the club.
