PSG look to replace Neymar with this Barcelona winger after Champions League exit
The French club are looking for a younger winger to support superstar Kylian Mbappe.
Ousmane Dembele has always been a hot topic during transfer windows, and that has proven to be the case yet again. Several media outlets have reported over the last few days that PSG wants the French winger and would be willing to pay the player 50 million euros to bring the player to Paris.
However, FC Barcelona maintains that if the Parisian club wants Dembele, they must pay 100 million. According to the reports, PSG would look to the French international to replace Neymar, who could leave the French club due to his disagreements with Mbappe. However, Dembele is one of Xavi’s most important players, and he has shown complete confidence in the player.
Therefore, the signing of Ousmane Dembele could prove to be a tricky one for PSG. They were recently knocked out of the Champions League Round of 16 by Bayern Munich and are looking to refresh their squad in the transfer window to challenge for the much-desired trophy next season.
Everyone in Barcelona is appreciative of Dembele’s dressing room presence. Raphinha was recently quoted saying, “Ousmane is one of the players I get on best within the dressing room. Competition is normal. One has to play, and another doesn’t, but when it’s fair, you don’t have to have enmity in the dressing room. I like the way he plays and as a person.” The two right-wingers compete for a spot in the first team. However, Raphinha has been nailed on in the first team for over a month due to the Frenchman’s injury.

Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele – season so far
Dembele has been in impressive form for Barcelona during the 2022-23 campaign. He has scored 8 goals and registered 7 assists in 28 appearances in all competitions. The 25-year-old is currently recovering from a hamstring injury on his left thigh. He suffered the injury during FC Barcelona’s visit to Girona at the end of January. The Frenchman is expected to return in the middle or end of March.
Dembele has registered 40 goals and 41 assists in 177 appearances since joining as a promising youngster from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017. However, it did not always look like he could fulfil his massive potential at Camp Nou. The Frenchman has thrived under Xavi, with almost 40 per cent of his goal contributions coming since the Barcelona legend’s arrival as manager.
Both Xavi and Dembele hope he will continue to dazzle the crowds in Spain and fulfil his talent. Barcelona will also hope that he can return from his injury in time for El Clasico on the March 20.
