PSG owner issues final ultimatum to Kylian Mbappe for contract renewal, says he’s ‘shocked and disappointed’

In a press conference held on Wednesday, the President of Paris St. Germain, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, was taken aback and ‘disappointed’ when he learned that star player Kylian Mbappe intends to leave the club by this summer without a fee agent. Al-Khelaifi firmly stated that it is inconceivable to let go of the world’s best player without receiving financial aid.

Al-Khelaifi made it clear that PSG will not allow Mbappe’s departure this summer without a significant financial agreement. Mbappe’s existing PSG contract is set to expire in 2024, but he has recently expressed his reluctance to extend it for the upcoming Ligue 1 season. However, the management faces a dilemma regarding whether to extend Mbappe’s contract or let him go.

PSG’s new coach, Luis Enrique, has expressed his thoughts on the situation. He is focused on assembling a strong team at PSG but has chosen not to disclose any information about Mbappe’s future. This silence indicates to fans that PSG is not planning to sell him this season and aims to negotiate a new contract with Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe’s decision to leave PSG follows the team’s recent experience with Lionel Messi, a world-renowned Argentine player, who declined a contract extension for the French side and joined Inter Miami in Major League Soccer without any fee to the club.

While talking about Mbappe, Al Khelaifi stated, “We do NOT want him to leave for free in 2024. Our position is clear. If Kylian wants to stay, we want him to stay. But he needs to sign a new contract. We don’t want to lose the best player in the world for free, it’s impossible.”

Kylian Mbappe’s Future at PSG clearly looks uncertain

Amidst the transfer turmoil, the future of Kylian Mbappe is uncertain. Reports suggest that Mbappe is unhappy at PSG. He has expressed his intention to join another team next season through social media.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in response to Mbappe’s decision to leave the club for free, expressed his disappointment. Al-Khelaifi recognizes Mbappe’s skills and sportsmanship. The situation remains unresolved as negotiations continue.

As it stands, Real Madrid looks like the favorite spot for Kylian Mbappe, especially after the departure of Karim Benzema. However, PSG is yet to receive an offer from the Los Blancos as of now.
