Despite a bid finally coming in from Barcelona, Raphinha, the 25-year-old has not made a choice.

On Thursday afternoon, June 30, transfer writer Romano—who also contributes to the Guardian—posted on Twitter to expose the offer from the previous evening. He wrote: “Excl: Barcelona called Leeds yesterday night to submit a fresh bid for Raphinha, following conversations with Deco.

Romano returned with a second update to say: Barcelona proposition for Raphinha is formal and written, already delivered – Leeds have no desire to accept that bid, as things stand. Despite the Blaugrana making their plans official, they are still being rejected by Elland Road authorities. “Leeds wish to uphold the Chelsea deal; we are still awaiting player and Deco’s acceptance. Barça perseveres until the finish.”

FC Barcelona keeps pushing for Raphinha:

Raphinha for Leeds

After waiting for so many weeks, the club that was widely believed to be the front-runner to sign Raphinha has finally made a bid, but it isn’t high enough.

The fact that Stamford Bridge has put money on the table in the amount needed for the star winger appears to have startled others into taking action. Barca is fortunate that Deco is the agent engaged in the entire scenario since it seems improbable that they would still be given a chance after such a long wait.

Given that the situation at Elland Road has stayed mostly consistent throughout the process, Whites supporters could be forgiven for losing patience with it. Meanwhile, Arsenal and later Barcelona felt they had better ideas and would either wait or make a low-ball offer.

Raphinha, or at least his agency, seems ready to give them every opportunity to follow through on their desire, but the Blues or even Leeds cannot maintain their grip for long.

Even if it appears that this is finally coming to a close, it is still unclear what that end will entail. If the Brazilian international had to leave the Premier League, fans would undoubtedly want to see it.
