Real Madrid ace Vinicius Jr’s set to cut his partnership with Nike amidst the 2022 FIFA World Cup: Reports
Vinicius Jr's deal with Nike
Vinicius Jr., a forward for Brazil and Real Madrid teams, is attempting to end his endorsement contract with Nike. The player feels he has been treated unjustly by the American company. He feels he has not been given the recognition he deserves since he was given outdated shoes to compete in the FIFA World Cup.
Vinicius Jr, currently part of the Brazil national team for the Qatar World Cup, has spoken to legal representatives with the intention of taking legal action to terminate the contract he is currently signed until 2028. Nike has not yet responded to any inquiries regarding the situation.
Vinicius Jr, 22 years old, has become a major asset for Nike in Brazil since the end of the company’s endorsement agreement with Neymar in 2021. The American sports equipment manufacturer has been using the young footballer to promote their brand in the South American country.

Brazil loses its first World Cup group game in two decades
Brazil has been defeated in a World Cup group stage match for the first time in over two decades. Since their loss to Norway on June 23rd, 1998, Brazil has not tasted defeat in the group stage until Vincent Aboubakar‘s header in the 90+3 minute for Cameroon. Aboubakar’s response of taking off his shirt in celebration ultimately resulted in a red card. Still, Cameroon was able to hang on for the win – marking the first time an African team had ever defeated Brazil in the World Cup.
It was an intense night, marked by outbursts of frustration every time Brazil failed to score. Even with the match still in progress, some spectators had already given up hope of a win and were seen exiting the stadium before the end. The outcome, which occurred against the odds when Karl Toko Ekambi delivered a perfect ball that Aboubakar headed home so accurately that Ederson in Brazil’s goal couldn’t even move, sadly did not help Cameroon progress as Switzerland defeated Serbia 3-2 to take second place in Group G.
