Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti hits out at Premier League over claims of being the ‘strongest league,’ says its clubs ‘compete with teams with less money’

Carlo Ancelotti brutally commented on the situation of English clubs in European competitions. The Real Madrid manager believes that teams from other leagues should not be overlooked.

Speaking about Premier League clubs, Ancelotti stated: “The truth is that English football has teams that compete very well. It doesn’t surprise me that the English are favorites.”

However, he was also vocal about how well clubs from other countries perform in cup competitions, stating: “However, I think even if there is a little difference, other regions showing they can compete. European football is much more competitive than people say. The English think they have the strongest league and the most spectacular league in the world, but the truth is when they come to Europe, they compete with teams with less money.”

Carlo Ancelotti has faced his fair share of English clubs in the competition with Real Madrid, knocking out Chelsea and Manchester City last season. As for this season, they beat Chelsea 2-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.

Multiple reports have suggested that Real Madrid will sack Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season. The Los Blancos hierarchy is reportedly unhappy with his management as they expected better results.

However, Ancelotti was his usual composed self as he brushed off the rumors, stating: “We will definitely be here next season, without doubt. We will respect the contract. I think the president wants me to stay because he continues to be very kind me, and we have to look forward. The club is very calm, they show me a lot of affection.”

Real Madrid look set to finish second in La Liga with league leaders Barcelona slipping out of their grasp with each passing game. However, the club can still get their hands on the Copa del Rey and the Champions League as they are in the final and the quarterfinals of the competitions, respectively.
