Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti willing to sign these two Serie A strikers as possible replacement for Karim Benzema: Reports
Victor Osimhen, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafael Leao
According to reports, Carlo Ancelotti urged Real Madrid president Florentino Perez to do all in his power to sign AC Milan star Rafael Leao and Napoli player Victor Osimhen in January. Since his return to the Bernabeu last year, Ancelotti has wanted to strengthen his attack, and after failing to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer, he got frustrated.
Karim Benzema’s ongoing injury problems have only made it more urgent for Real to sign attacking reinforcements, and as a result, Ancelotti has identified Leao and Osimhen as priority purchases for the upcoming winter transfer window, according to the Spanish news portal.
The greatest teams in Europe are vying for Leao, who has emerged at AC Milan as one of the most sought-after players in the continent. Chelsea and Manchester City are among those interested in signing the Portuguese sensation. Leao, who was voted the 2021–22 Serie A MVP, has excelled once more this season, tallying six goals and nine assists in just 17 appearances throughout the Serie A and Champions League. Leao’s contract is slated to expire in the summer of 2024, thus Milan is apparently considering selling him if the appropriate offer comes in. They don’t want to take the chance of losing another star to a free transfer, therefore they are reportedly exploring doing so.

Carlo Ancelotti desires to improve the Real Madrid’s attack
Real Madrid defeated 3-2 away against Rayo Vallecano, giving Carlo Ancelotti’s squad their first La Liga loss of the year. As a result, they dropped two points behind Barcelona in the league standings. One must also agree that the club’s performance has declined recently, as they have won only once in their last four matches across all competitions, while losing two and drawing one.
At one point, Real Madrid was only focused on winning games after an explosive start to the season, but it now appears that injuries and a lack of depth are starting to wear them down and it raises concern.
The biggest issue may have been Karim Benzema‘s fitness issues, since he has missed much of the season thus far. In the absence of the Frenchman, Ancelotti had to turn Rodrygo into a forward because the team had no clear backup plan for him. According to the sources, Ancelotti has already communicated to Florentino Perez the importance of moving forward with the recruitment of a striker in order to try to contend for every trophy after the World Cup.
