Wales and Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale has recently talked about Lionel Messi adjusting to MLS. Bale reportedly claimed that Messi would love to play in MLS as it has much less pressure of winning.
In a recent interview, the former Real Madrid winger was asked for his opinion on how Messi might find the league. To this Bale replied, “MLS is a lot more chilled. If you lose at Madrid, it’s like the world’s ended, you get crucified, you feel down, you go home you’re not happy. In MLS, they kind of accept losing a little bit more, there’s no consequence, you can’t get relegated, you just lose a game you go to the next one. They kind of accept losing a lot better over there.”
Bale conclude as he said, “They know how to lose but also every win they celebrate like they’ve won the Championship. So Messi will definitely enjoy it. The travel’s difficult.”
Bale’s comment could also be a hint towards to unfathomable amount of pressure players go through in high-profile clubs. Bale’s time in Real Madrid was made sour by his love for golf and his inability to win over the fans despite playing a crucial role in multiple Champions League finals. Messi also shared a similar fate in Paris where he was booed off the pitch despite his laurels.
Bale himself has previously played in the MLS briefly. He joined the Los Angeles FC and won the MLS Cup in 2022 with the franchise. The winger memorably scored a dramatic late equalizer in the final against Philadelphia Union. His side then prevailed on penalties.

Pep Guardiola opened up about his thoughts on Messi’s move to Inter Miami
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has opened up about his thoughts on Lionel Messi’s move to MLS side Inter Miami. Messi decided to move to PSGInter Miami after he decided to leave Paris Saint Germain following a two-season stint.
In a recent interview, Pep Guardiola talked about his thoughts on Messi’s move to America. He said, “I am out of this situation, you know more about it than I do. If in the end, Leo decides to go to the United States, I am sure he will do well and that is the best decision for him. I ignore the inner gossip. And the money over there is very good, I won’t comment about it.”
Before confirming his move to MLS, Messi was offered a billion-dollar contract from the Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. It was a two years contract which could have seen the Argentine bag a salary of about $500 million per season. But Messi reportedly rejected it as he was inclined to continue his work in Europe then.
