Champions League nights are set to return tonight. That means more drama, more goals, and more action as far as the average football fan is concerned. 14-time champions Real Madrid have been drawn alongside RB Leipzig in the Round of 16, with the first leg set to be played on the 14th. As both teams get ready to face off on Wednesday, a Leipzig player has sent out a ‘warning’ for the Madrid players.

24-year-old Eljif Elmas plays as a midfielder for the German club, but can also operate as a forward and winger. The versatile player, seemingly not intimidated by the prospect of facing Real Madrid, sent a bold message ahead of their Round of 16 opener.

Real Madrid won't have five minutes of peace.

Even though players challenging Madrid ahead of games don’t normally end well (ask Mohamed Salah), the Macedonian is looking to put an end to the same.

Leipzig are currently fifth in the Bundesliga, 3 points behind Borussia Dortmund. On the other hand, Real Madrid are in spectacular form and are sitting on a five-point lead at the top of La Liga.

That being said, Real Madrid have only lost one game against German opposition in their last 15 games, and that was against Leipzig. The Bundesliga side qualified as runners-up in Group B, 6 points behind Manchester City.

Fans troll Leipzig player for ‘overconfident’ claim ahead of Champions League clash

If you’re bold enough to claim that Real Madrid won’t have an easy night against you, you better be ready for the wrath of hundreds of Madristas. A fan called Eljif Elmas a ‘nobody’ and asked who he was. Another countered the player’s statement and said that Madrid would enjoy 90 minutes of peace instead. Some laughed at how it never ends for those who challenge the club ahead of games.

Some called him a low-budget Mohamed Salah, for his identical claim which reminded a few of the Egyptians. Another fan said that it is statements like these that give the club the energy to go against teams and ‘teach them a lesson’. One fan, however, agreed that players should show confidence ahead of games and not scare away from tougher opposition.

Real Madrid are shaping up to be the team to beat this season in Europe. Los Blancos have won all six of their games in the group stage and will look to keep up the record as they go into the Round of 16. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr, and Rodrygo Goes will certainly not give the Leipzig defense ‘five minutes of peace’ either.
