Carlo Ancelotti has emphasized again that his team does not require a striker. Real Madrid lost to Barcelona 3-0 on Saturday in a pre-season friendly. They were heavily wasteful in taking chances as they hit the crossbar several times. Their star player Vinicius Jr. struggled too as he missed a penalty. Highlighting the need for a no.9 even more in this game.
Real Madrid recently lost their main striker Karim Benzema who left the club to join Saudi champions Al-Itihaad. He was their talisman in front of the goal since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. In the last two seasons, Benzema scored 76 goals for the Royal Whites. Leading them to a La Liga title, a Champions League title, and a Copa Del Rey during that time. His departure has thus naturally cost Madrid heavily.
Vinicius Jr. looks likely to lead the attack next season. However, despite his many qualities as a winger, finishing is not his strongest suit. It was evident in Saturday’s match. He was also handed the responsibility to take a penalty kick, which he missed. Not bringing a striker into the team could put pressure on him and eventually could affect his form adversely. This would not be a favorable outcome for Madrid, especially if they want to reclaim the La League title from their rivals.
Madrid have been heavily linked with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. It has been widely acknowledged that his dream is to represent Los Blancos. The French club is ready to sell him as he isn’t going to sign another contract. However, Madrid might find the price too high this summer because they already made a costly purchase in the form of Jude Bellingham. Carlo Ancelotti’s hands may thus be tied which is why he’s saying that he does not need a #9 when it is clear that he most definitely does.
Liverpool could steal Real Madrid target Kylian Mbappe
Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are currently in negotiations for an exciting loan arrangement involving Kylian Mbappe. The French club is concerned that Mbappe might leave for Real Madrid without any transfer fee in just one year.
To prevent this, Liverpool are offering a one-year loan deal to take Mbappe away from Paris. In a potential move that will generate funds for PSG and allow the 24-year-old striker to fulfill his dream of moving to Madrid next summer. The Reds are optimistic about this deal due to Mbappe’s admiration for the club and the fact that his mother, Fayza Lamari, who also happens to be his agent, is a devoted Liverpool fan.
Mbappe has frequently praised Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool Football Club. In the past, he and his representatives had engaged in transfer discussions with Liverpool before ultimately choosing to join PSG when departing from Monaco.
