Midfielder Luka Modric who recently returned from international duty with a hip injury is anticipated to miss up to ten days of action for Real Madrid. On Wednesday afternoon, after Modric had returned from his service with Croatia to exercise with the club, news of his injury was released.

After a workout, testing revealed Modric had a hip overload, which will likely prevent him from playing against Osasuna this weekend. In Madrid’s forthcoming Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk and their upcoming league match against Getafe, they are also expected to be without Modric.

Real Madrid's Luka Modric

Real Madrid are not eligible to receive any compensation from FIFA in regards to Luka Modric’s injury on International duty. The compensation is part of FIFA’s regulation program to protect players who get injured during international breaks between the season.

Since Modric injury would just sideline him for 10 days, Real Madrid won’t get any money from FIFA for his injury because it’s not serious as per FIFA’s official ruling. The club would have received €20,458 a day if the injury had lasted more than 28 days which is calculated on the basis of player’s basic wages.
