Barcelona had been in contact with Fenerbahce all summer, aiming to sign the wonderkid Arda Guler. Barca aimed to trigger the €17.5 million release clause of the star. However, their negotiations seem to be a wasted effort now, as rivals Real Madrid have apparently hijacked the signing in a sensational manner.
Guler was mulling over the offer from Barcelona amongst Real’s interest. As he is often referred to, the Turkish Messi has chosen to ditch the Catalans and instead sign for the Los Blancos as per journalist Mario Cortegana. The youngster is keen on moving clubs this year and has chosen Santiago Bernabeu as his next destination.
Despite Barca’s sporting director Deco, even flying to Turkey to meet Guler’s representatives, the prodigy has snubbed Barcelona. Barcelona were keen to seal an agreement all summer, but now they have been overtaken by Real Madrid. Fenerbahce’s final decision is awaited as journalist Fabrizio Romano suggests they will likely accept Madrid’s offer.
Real Madrid are paying €20m for the young star, which is more than the release clause of the star. They are also offering a sell-on percentage to Fenerbahce, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano. Real expect to wrap up the signing quickly as the Turkish star was on the radar for top European clubs.
