Aurelien Tchouameni will be out for about two months due to a foot injury. He has a stress fracture in his left foot, and reports say he’ll miss six to eight weeks of games for Real Madrid during that time.

This is a significant setback for Real Madrid, as Tchouameni has played every match this season. The injury likely happened during the recent game against FC BarcelonaEl Clasico – at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

Real Madrid has faced most of their challenging games in the first half of the season. They might have some trouble when they face Napoli at home, but the rest of their opponents are teams they should beat. They’ll play most of these games at Santiago Bernabéu and aim to keep their great form, which has them leading La Liga.

Real Madrid play their next game Rayo Vallecano in the league followed by a visit from German opposition, Union Berlin as part of the UEFA Champions League.

Who will occupy Aurelien Tchouameni’s position?

As Real Madrid prepares for a short period of time without Aurelien Tchouameni, Carlo Ancelloti will have to pick from a list of midfielders who are not by nature ‘natural defensive midfielders’. Eduardo Camavinga has emerged as the first choice in the minds of many Real Madrid fans as the midfielder has played a plethora of positions this season including the role of a ‘No.6’.

Toni Kroos has also appeared as an option however, fans believe the player’s age could cause issues as the former German International has only started six times for Madrid in La Liga this season. A final option in the form of Dani Ceballos could also be considered but, the player has only made three appearances in the league this season and was not included in the Madrid squad for their last two La Liga games.

While the importance of a defensive midfielder cannot be understated, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid is in exceptional form, and with their next few fixtures being favorable, he will hope that the club does not miss Tchouameni too much.
