Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde admits to all assault charges pressed by Villarreal’s Alex Baena
Fede Valverde has admitted to recent accusations

Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has admitted that he assaulted Villarreal’s Alex Baena on Saturday night, according to reports. He assaulted Baena in the bus parking area following Los Blancos’ 3-2 defeat to Villarreal. According to a Spanish journalist, police have taken statements about the incident from both players, with the Los Blancos star admitting that he hit Baena.
Baena suffered a bruised and swollen cheek in the aftermath of the assault. The Madrid midfielder said that Baena insulted his unborn child during Madrid’s Copa del Rey clash with Villarreal in January, just after the Uruguayan and his wife endured a miscarriage scare. It’s believed that Baena repeated similar abuse during Saturday’s clash, which caused Valverde to lose his cool.
However, the Villarreal player has vehemently denied these accusations and has pressed charges against the 24-year-old. “Very sad about the aggression I suffered after the match and surprised by what is being said about my person. It is totally false that I said that!”, he said. Valverde could face heavy sanctions after the incident, particularly a ban.
The Uruguay international should be available for selection when Madrid welcomes Chelsea to the Santiago Bernabeu for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Wednesday considering the developments are just preceding. Alex Baena on the other hand will explore his options. It is to be seen what further developments take place in the future.
The possible sanctions Federico Valverde could be hit with following the Alex Baena incident

There is plenty of controversy surrounding Federico Valverde at the moment, following an incident with Villarreal’s Alex Baena which occurred after Real Madrid’s defeat to the Yellow Submarine on Saturday evening. There are a few possible sanctions for Valverde. Baena could report the matter to the police, which could result in criminal charges.
Although the incident was not included in the referee’s match report, Baena could still report the incident to the Competition Committee as it happened inside the grounds of the Bernabeu. That could result in a sporting ban for Valverde. However, Villarreal and Baena could decide against pursuing the matter, which could mean that Valverde is not punished by anybody.
However, if the National Police that was present at the scene of the altercation decide to report it themselves to Anti-Violence, he could still be sanctioned. Baena is believed to be considering his options at the moment, and it very much remains to be seen what he decides to do next. In the meantime, Valverde will continue preparations for Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final first leg against Chelsea on Wednesday.
