Jude Bellingham apparently convinced Mason Greenwood to join and play in La Liga. According to Getafe manager Jose Bordalas, Bellingham was vital in Mason’s move to Spain.

Mason Greenwood completed a season-long loan deal from Manchester United to Getafe this summer. The forward has not played since January 2022 as he was convicted on charges of r*pe and domestic violence. The case was however dropped after key witnesses withdrew their involvement. But Manchester United’s attempted reintegration of the player into the squad was met with massive public disdain. Due to this, Mason Greenwood’s return was delayed and the player was shipped off to Getafe after a loan-deal agreement had been reached.

Since joining Getafe, Mason Greenwood has publicly come out and stated, “I have been training for four or five months, I am getting up to speed and have been training with my teammates and feel quite good.” Even the Getafe board was shocked that they were able to acquire a player of his caliber. “It was a surprise, we never thought we could get a player like that,” Bordelas said. He further revealed on the radio that Mason is a friend of Jude Bellingham who convinced the forward to come play in the Spanish League.

Before his charges, Mason Greenwood was touted as one of England’s best young talents. The forward made his England debut in 2020 in a UEFA Nations League game against Iceland. The player was also highly rated by his Manchester United peers as the player had shown immense quality at a young age in a very short period of time since his United debut.

Known for his left-foot strike, Mason racked up 35 goals in 129 appearances for the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dubbed the kid, ‘the best finisher at the club.’ Phil Foden at the time also labelled him as the best in terms of finishing. Scott McTominay named him the best talent in Manchester United for the past 10 years and Paul Scholes believed that the player would be a ‘ future superstar’.

With high praise coming from players of such high caliber, it’s not a secret that Getafe are extremely excited to see the player play for their club. Mason is already loved by his new set of fans who will get to see him in action when Getafe faces Osasuna on the 17th of September, Sunday.
