Aleksandar Mitrovic has no love left for England as the ex-Fulham striker makes his way to the Saudi Pro League. The English side received more than €50 million for the striker. Mitrovic’s intention to leave Fulham was never speculation. Fulham were adamant about keeping their front-man.

The player scored 111 goals in 206 appearances for the club. He was vital to Fulham’s promotion back to the Premier League, scoring an incredible 43 goals in 44 appearances in the Championship. It is clear why the club had zero intention to sell the player. Bids ranging around £25-£35 million from Al-Hilal were all rejected.

However, Mitrovic wanted to move away. “He forced everything to leave the club, he wanted to leave,” Fulham manager Marcos Silva revealed. Since his departure, Mitrovic has had a wonderful time at Al-Hilal. The striker has scored five goals in four games, including a hattrick against league contenders Al-Ittihad.

Aleksandar Mitrovic’ stint in England

Aleksandar Mitrovic was introduced to English football back in 2015, when he was purchased by Newcastle United from Anderlecht. The striker was coming off a great season that saw him score 14 goals in 27 games for the Belgium club. However, the player found the Premier League tough, as he only managed nine goals in 34 appearances for the club. Newcastle United were relegated that season.

Mitrovic was sold to Fulham after another poor season with Newcastle in the Championship. The striker was showing improvements, as he managed 11 in 17 games for the club. Fulham as a club, however, became a yo-yo club as they would be promoted one season and relegated the next.

Mitrovic has been relegated 4 times in the 8 seasons he was i England. It was not until his final two years that the player shined. The striker scored 43 in 44 which secured Premier League football. 14 in 24 in the Premier League, and fans finally believed that the player had announced himself at the age of 28.

Aleksandar however had other intentions as he departed England once he was finally starting to prove himself in England’s top-flight. The player now plays with Neymar, Reben Neves and Sergej Milinković-Savić. Players who he would have no chance of playing with if he stuck to England.
