Renowned US journalist detained in Qatar during 2022 FIFA World Cup for wearing ‘Rainbow’ T-shirt

A renowned American journalist Grant Wahl was stopped from entering the World Cup premises for wearing a rainbow t-shirt. The journalist took to Twitter to share his unfortunate experience, sharing the laws, and extreme rules enforced by the Qatari officials. The man was later detained for breaching the conduct.

The journalist spoke on Twitter marking the start of a bad phase, “Security guard refusing to let me into the stadium for USA-Wales. “You have to change your shirt. It’s not allowed.” Said the man. This is just the beginning and it is yet to see if the American does what’s been forwarded or the opposite.

The armband was designed to express solidarity with marginalized people, including the criminalized Gay community, at the Qatar World Cup, some people earlier decided to wear the same band as a sign of protest to make against the authorities of Qatar. However, this shall never be a solution to go by in a country that is alien to your belief system.

Qatar has however realized that the whole world is protesting against its extremist behavior and guidelines. The players and people protesting against them must remain in their freedom and access to their rights well provided in other countries as well.

Respect for local traditions and customs has no meaning whatsoever for the gulf country, and with a blindfolded eye, the authorities have planned to gift the prestigious World Cup to such a nation. Amidst protests already causing heat at the event, these rules are just another reason to speak up.

Anyone who will be found by the Qatari officials with the sort of stuff that they have been warned against, their stash might get confiscated and the person shall face imprisonment according to the rules, that punch a hole right through the Footballing beliefs and motos.
