Columbia Broadcasting System’s “The Golazo Show” is one of the most popular football shows being aired. The show is well known for the humor, analysis done and the chemistry between the panel members, which makes it a fun watch.
The panel on the show include Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards and TV presenter Kate Abdo. The quartet are often pulling each other’s legs, with Richards often being a common target. Unfortunately, a joke made by Carragher while covering the Arsenal-Porto Champions League fixture has raised eyebrows.
While covering the match, the cast got an Arsenal kit for Richards to try on. Richards, who is a huge Manchester City fan, wore it and asked Abdo to try it on. She refused stating she was loyal to her childhood club, Manchester United.
Unfortunately, the entire mood of the panelists went sour after Jamie Carragher said:
You’re not loyal to Malik (Abdo’s partner).Jamie Carragher said
She was offended by his comment, asking how he could say something like this. Meanwhile, Henry and Richards kept silent, thanks to how awkward things had become.
This comment made by the Liverpool icon angered English presenter, Richard Keys. He tweeted out on how he crossed the line. Keys called Abdo a “top pro,” and said his comment was bound to happen on the show.
Keys’ tweet read:
I think Kate Abdo is a top pro. I’ve no idea what Carragher is insinuating but he crossed the line again. How many more times? That show is like so many more these days - too ‘pally’. It was an accident waiting to happen. Abdo deserves much better.Richard Keys on X
Gary Neville hits out at Jamie Carragher after he makes controversial claim
Since 2019, Liverpool and Manchester City have been two of the best teams in the Premier League. The two sides were involved in two huge title races that saw them divided by just a point. Seeing how the two teams had fought closely, Jamie Carragher claimed the two sides had the greatest rivalry in Premier League history. Hearing this, Gary Neville got offended.
You go back to that rivalry between United and Arsenal, that was more fierce and aggressive between the players and managers. In terms of quality, intensity, entertainment… I don’t think we’ve seen this before. I mean Carragher’s statement that Liverpool vs Man City is the greatest rivalry is offensive. From 98 to 2004 Arsenal won three titles, Man United won four. It was blood, thunder, quality. Everything you would want in a rival. In the last six years, Liverpool have won one title.Gary Neville on Sky Sports
Currently, the Title race is a three-horse race between Arsenal, City and Liverpool. With only 10 match weeks left, it is hard to predict who will win the coveted title.
